2-Day Industrial Workshop on Advanced Microscopy for Materials Characterization and Cell Biology with Live Demonstrations-A VIT-AP-ZEISS INDIA COLLABORATION.

September 4 | 9:00AM

VIT-AP : Newton Hall/ Einstein Hall

  • Description

The School of Advanced Sciences (SAS), VIT-AP University is pleased to organize two-day workshop on Advanced Microscopy with live demonstrations in collaboration with ZEISS India. It’s impossible to imagine today’s world without the advent and evolution of Microscopy over the past 400 years. Microscopy techniques enable access to morphology, composition, physical properties and dynamic behavior of a wide variety of materials to understand structure-property relationships, functions and performance. Microscopic techniques such as optical microscopy (conventional light microscopy, fluorescence microscopy, confocal/multiphoton microscopy, and stimulated emission depletion microscopy, scanning probe microscopy (scanning tunnelling microscopy, atomic force microscopy, near-field scanning optical microscopy, and others), and electron microscopy (scanning electron microscopy, transmission electron microscopy, scanning transmission electron microscopy, focus ion beam microscopy have played an invaluable role in material science, nanotechnology, interfacial science and engineering, advanced manufacturing, catalysis, bioengineering, bioinspired synthesis, green production routes, sensing and actuation. The basic objective of the two-day workshop hosted by VIT-AP is to bring together participants from academic institutions, R & D organizations and industries to offer practical knowledge of optical microscopy, measurement techniques for material science and cell biology. The unique features of this work shop are the talks by ZEISS experts on Fundamentals of optical microscopy; Advanced microscopy techniques; Electron microscopy and Focused Ion Beam Tomography. Each talk would be followed by a dedicated live demonstration on some of the highly advanced optical microscopes produced by ZEISS. These microscopes are being used extensively in a number of Research and Development labs, Universities and Industries across the world for a wide variety of investigations in biology, physical sciences and engineering. The following state-of-the-art optical microscopes will be demonstrated during the workshop

The live demonstrations on the characterization of diverse biological and physical samples will help audience appreciate the engineering of physics behind their operation, potential of these instruments and the usefulness of artificial intelligence in image analyses. This workshop offers practical knowledge of sample examination, imaging, acquisition and analyses. This workshop will form an excellent platform for cross-disciplinary interactions and new collaborations. It will be a great learning experience for PhD scholars while interacting with expert speakers backed by a wealth of expertise and international exposure.

Who should attend: Undergraduate/Graduate students, Research Scholars, Research Associates, Faculties Members from Industry and Government Organisations.

E-Certificate: A certificate of participation will be awarded to each registered participant after successful completion of workshop
